All of we Veterans at the National Veterans Foundation would like to wish you a happy Veterans Day.

As you take time on Wednesday to be with family and friends, please remember the past and present members of the U.S. Armed Forces that have served their country so bravely.

There are currently 2.3 million men and women in the U.S. Military. Over 170,000 of them are serving in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 5,000 have been killed in the conflicts and nearly 35,000 have been wounded.

There are 23 million Veterans living in the U.S. today, including 2 million from the current wars, 7 million from the Vietnam War, 2 million from the Korean War and 2 million from World War II.

Maybe you are one of these Veterans. The chances are that you have a friend or a family member who served or is serving in the military. Maybe they are in Iraq or Afghanistan today, in harm's way. If so, then you know the feeling of deep gratitude and caring for these men and women that transcends politics. You know what it means, not just to support the troops, but also to care about them as individual heroes.
